in 1952 regiment reorganized separate special purpose regiment. on may 7, 1965 decorated order of red banner military achievements during great patriotic war. on may 8, 1967 regiment took part in unveiling ceremony of tomb of unknown soldier in alexander garden. in 1973 unit renamed separate red banner kremlin regiment, later receiving order of october revolution. before being deprived of mausoleum guard duties in 1993 result of collapse of soviet union , constitutional crisis of year, regiment received current designation in accordance presidential decree of march 20 year, time under federal protective service. since 1997 kremlin regiment has resumed guard duties presidential decree on tomb of unknown soldier , eternal flame, keeping alive legacy of served on eastern front.
