school of engineering established in 1979 offering part-time m.tech. programmes in major disciplines of engineering viz.civil, mechanical, electrical , chemical engineering practicing engineers in , around cochin. school introduced b.tech. programmes in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, electronics , communication engineering, computer science & engineering , information technology in 1995, turned out milestone in growth of school. b.tech. in safety , fire engineering added in 1996 , electrical & electronics engineering in 2003.

research activities introduced in school of engineering in 1981 ph.d. programmes. school has produced 53 ph.ds , more 250 candidates have registered research students @ present.. school of engineering has been accepted research centre. number of research projects have been sanctioned school agencies dst, central water commission, isro, aicte, coir board, kerala state coir corporation, etc. these have helped establish equipped laboratories , promote research activities. research community of school has published papers in international/national journals.

b.tech programmes offered school of engineering, cusat have been accredited national board of accreditation (nba) under tier-i system.national board of accreditation (nba) has been accorded permanent signatory status washington accord on 13 june 2014. per washington accord agreement, recognition of programmes other signatories applies programmes accredited nba offered education providers accepted nba tier-1 institutions.

the kunjali marakkar school of marine engineering offers b.tech. programme in marine engineering . programme designed per norms prescribed directorate general of shipping, government of india , approved aicte. course curriculum in conformity international standards laid down international maritime organization (imo), special agency of united nations organization. school assessed , certified quality management standards, iso 9001-2008 , rated “outstanding” statutory grading agency, care. ship-in-campus established in school complex offers state of art facility catering hands-on-job experience marine engineering students running , maintenance of ship’s machinery. students further getting trained in full mission engine room simulator lab. installed in school. school library stocked on 6000 books of original publication in subjects relevant marine engineering studies.

b.tech. marine engineering course full-time compulsory residential programme. therefore, students’ hostel located within campus in hygienic , student friendly atmosphere. hostel mess run school provided modern kitchen , other facilities ensure hygienic , nutritious food students. school , hostel facilities under continuous surveillance , periodic inspection directorate general of shipping, government of india. students provided merchant navy cadets’ uniform attending classes , boiler suits, safety shoes , helmet workshop use. physical training compulsory cadets , given trained personnel. uniforms pt provided students.

the present annual intake in b.tech. marine engineering 80, through common admission test conducted university on india basis. school provides short term pre-requisite statutory courses in engine room simulator students appearing competency examination in class iv , class ii conducted directorate general of shipping. full-time 2 year (4 semester) m tech programme in marine engineering annual intake of maximum 18 students started academic year 2014.

cochin university college of engineering, kuttanad established in 1999 , owned cochin university of science , technology. situated in serene , beautiful 42 acre campus in pulincunnoo, kuttanad, rice bowl of kerala in alappuzha district, 75 km away main campus @ thrikkakara. campus of cusat functioning outside ernakulam district. offers b.tech programmes in computer science, electrical & electronics, electronics , communication, information technology, mechanical engineering, civil engineering. , m.c.a. many of faculty members have refined , sharpened knowledge through rigorous research activities , published findings in various national , international science , technical journals.
