radio career
early career

petit s start in broadcast radio came while attending university of new orleans. there, became student broadcaster radio uno, hosted station wtix in metairie. @ time, petit working full-time in administrative position city of new orleans, , radio side interest.


in july 1989, petit s mother, helen macklin petit, died cancer @ age 52. petit took extended leave of absence work , resigned. when returned work force months later, petit switched careers , accepted part-time on air position working small gospel radio station, k75.


in 1990, petit accepted full-time overnight on air position @ gospel radio station wyld-am. within year, promoted full-time middays, developed community following midday messenger . retained time slot many years.


united broadcasters of new orleans

immediately after hurricane katrina struck city of new orleans in late august 2005, number of area radio stations, led wwl-am, came in baton rouge, la form united broadcasters of new orleans, temporary consortium of broadcast personnel, equipment, , other shared resources. petit 1 of number of broadcasters helped provide continuous 24 hour cycle of news updates , post-katrina coverage. louisiana residents, including still trapped in new orleans working radios, hear broadcasts via wwl 870-am. broadcasts available outside of louisiana via streaming services. petit s show , several others hosted call ins individuals share information loved ones in hopes of reuniting families.


present day

petit hosts morning drive time show on wyld-am, serves music , program director. during 25 years in radio, has received numerous community awards , nominated twice stellar award gospel music industry professionals. petit has served emcee @ countless new orleans community events, including annual new orleans jazz & heritage festival.
