the type 95 so-ki armored railroad car designed requirement of kwantung army patrolling , guarding remote narrow gauge railway lines. fitted retractable wheel arrangement underneath enable run on rails. between 121 , 138 units manufactured between 1935 , 1943, operated in both china , burma.


type 2 ka-mi amphibious tank



this first amphibious tank produced in japan, , intended use japanese special naval landing forces. chassis based on type 95 ha-go , main armament same, 37 mm tank gun. pontoons attached system of small clips release inside tank, engaged once landed ground combat operations. type 2 ka-mi first used in combat on guadalcanal in late 1942. later encountered united states marine corps in marshall islands , mariana islands, particularly on saipan. used during fighting on philippine island of leyte in late 1944. made in 1943–1944, 182 completed.


type 3 ke-ri proposal


this proposed model type 97 57 mm gun main armament. design never got past testing in 1943.


type 4 ke-nu light tank



type 4 ho-to spg type 38 12 cm howitzer



type 4 ke-nu conversion



the conversion replaced existing turret large turret of type 97 chi-ha, armed low-velocity 57 mm gun. conversion done in 1944, approximately 100 units completed.


type 4 ho-to prototype


the ho-to self-propelled gun on modified ha-go chassis. mounted type 38 12 cm howitzer in open casemate frontal , side armour. 1 prototype completed.


type 5 ho-ru prototype


the ho-ru light tank destroyer similar german hetzer, armed weaker 47 mm main gun (type 1 47 mm tank gun) in semi-enclosed casemate. type 5 ho-ru utilized chassis of type 95 ha-go, suspension enlarged 350 mm track link width. there 2 set rows of wheel guide pins, holding road wheel between them. sprocket of driving wheel grating type gear wheel guide pins on soviet t-34. development of type 5 ho-ru started in february 1945 1 prototype being completed before end of war.
