bosscha observatory (lembang)


k.a.r. bosscha philanthropist , continued family s traditional interest in science. notably participated in development of bosscha observatory (bosscha sterrenwacht) in lembang near bandung in 1923. contribution consists of land used location , main benefactor till project completed in 5 years time (1928). sponsored purchase of telescope carl zeiss jena.


the observatory belongs department of astronomy, bandung institute of technology , named observatorium bosscha (bosscha observatory). indonesian prominent astronomers , physicists have once educated , trained there @ least once during educations.


bosscha helped development of cancer center in bandung (het nederlandsch-indisch kanker instituut) , technische hoogeschool te bandung in 1920 known bandung institute of technology. created (free of charge) elementary school workers children in 1901 known vervoloog malabar, known malabar 4 th public elementary school (sd negeri malabar 04). while old (original) building partially burnt (for not clear reason, according local resident), school has new modern (brick , cement) buildings. remaining building serve museum. made of wood structure, bamboo sheet wall.
