career counseling

career counseling offered in-person through organization s 3 offices, on internet , phone. these methods have provided more 4,600 dancers in 47 states approximately 46,000 hours of career counseling.


the organization offers one-on-one career counseling, informative career conversation seminars on relevant topics of interest, , focus , support groups such business group (for dancer-entrepreneurs) , diamond group (for mature dancers). in 2009, organization began putting archived footage of career conversation seminars on website.


in recognition of geographic distribution of dancers nationwide, rigorous touring schedules, organization created careerline, toll-free hotline allows dancers areas of country receive counseling , support.


national outreach projects (nops) provide counseling , seminars 2 days in various locations throughout nation each year. workshops examine key components of career transition, defining interests , skills understanding emotional aspects of change. individual career counseling sessions offered after workshops. date, organization has toured on 30 locations around country.

grants , scholarships

career transition dancers provides grants , educational scholarships allow dancers go school or start new businesses. on $4 million has been awarded educational scholarships towards tuition, books, , related expenses since 1985. on $400,000 has been awarded entrepreneurial dancers.


stepping hope , change

in april 2010, career transition dancers hosted first annual stepping hope , change conference, day-long career development seminar dancers. open pre-professional, current , former professional dancers, seminar hosted industry speakers, workshops, partner organizations , businesses addressed current needs of dancers in light of shifting economic climate across country. day-long event featured 6 breakout sessions focused on survival work, hot careers , exploration, , finding passion-based career. entire seminar streamed seminar live via internet dancers across country not attend in person.
