the hebrew institute of riverdale founded in 1971 in boiler room of whitehall building off henry hudson parkway former members of hebrew institute of university heights in bronx had moved riverdale. weiss, had finished training @ yeshiva university few years earlier, became synagogue s rabbi in 1973. congregation has grown 850 families, , has served platform weiss s rabbinical advocacy. in october 2014, weiss announced step down pulpit effective mid-2015.
