milne recruited st kilda football club essendon reserves , placed on st kilda s rookie list after playing dandenong stingrays , noble park football club in late 1990s.

2001 season: afl debut

milne elevated st kilda s primary list club s rookie list prior start of 2001 season. played first official afl game in 2001 against port adelaide @ football park in round 4. scored 2.1 in first game , had 17 disposals in losing side.


2002: leading goalkicker

he st kilda s leading goalkicker in 2002, kicking 50 goals 21 matches in 2002 afl premiership season.


2004 season

milne played in st kilda’s 2004 wizard home loans cup winning side, club s second pre-season cup win.


later in 2004 milne , teammate leigh montagna @ centre of police investigation of alleged rape of woman. no charges laid; however, in june 2010 former detective lead detective in case made claims case collapsed under internal pressure within victorian police force , powerful club backers detective alleging cost of case factor. in 2012 office of police integrity concluded after lengthy investigation opi investigators found no evidence substantiate allegation police investigating rape subject improper influence on 18 june 2013 reported milne had been charged 4 counts of rape on 2004 incident.


2005 season

in 2005 season, milne again kicked more 50 goals. in final round of season, against brisbane lions, had 15 kicks , kicked personal best of 11 goals in saints 139 point win. finished 61 goals 24 matches.


2008 season

milne played in st kilda’s 2008 nab cup winning side, club s third pre-season cup win. kicked 3 of st kilda 9 goals in final.


in 2008, during game against fremantle @ subiaco, kicked 3 goals after head clash. driven perth st kilda medical staff avoid risk of further damage , arrived in melbourne on thursday following game. despite named play in game on following sunday, robert harvey s tribute game against adelaide. kicked 2 goals in 20 possession game.


in 2008 season, milne kicked 60 goals 24 matches.


2009: grand finalist

milne played in 20 of 22 matches in 2009 home , away rounds in st kilda qualified in first position 2009 afl finals series, winning club’s third minor premiership.


st kilda qualified 2009 afl grand final after qualifying , preliminary finals wins. milne played in grand final when st kilda defeated geelong 12 points.


2010: leading goalkicker , grand finalist

on 9 april 2010, st kilda played collingwood in round 3 match. during quarter time break, words exchanged between milne , collingwood coach, mick malthouse, focus of in media alleged comment malthouse made calling milne rapist . in statement released collingwood, malthouse apologised comments fined $7500 afl. milne stated comments made opposition coach inappropriate.


under coach ross lyon, has continued develop forward defensive skills , setting play in addition ability score goals.


milne kicked 400th career goal on 4 june 2010, in round 11 against richmond, scoring 5 goals game.


mine played 200th game following week on 13 june 2010, in round 12 against fremantle, scoring 4 goals game.


he received 3 goal of year nominations in 2010 in rounds 5, 11 , 12.


st kilda qualified 2010 afl finals series in third position , won through 2010 grand final after wins on geelong in qualifying finals , western bulldogs in preliminary finals.


milne played in 2010 afl grand final in kicked 2 of st kilda 10 goals game against collingwood, ended in draw, 10. 8. (68) 9. 14. (68). milne faced ongoing scrutiny after failed reach ball in final 2 minutes, bounced through behind tie game.

2011: leading goalkicker , docklands record

in st kilda s round 21 home game against magpies, milne became first player in history of league kick 300 goals @ docklands stadium. overtook previous record of 299 set former essendon player matthew lloyd. milne kicked record-breaking goal in final quarter. fifth on st kilda s list of leading goal kickers in club s history.


milne selected in 2011 all-australian team in forward-pocket. first time in career milne had been selected in all-australian team.


2012 season , 500th goal

milne kicked 500th career goal against melbourne demons in round 5, becoming 50th player kick 500 goals in history of vfl/afl. milne played 250th afl game against essendon in round 15, kicking 5 goals in saints 71-point victory.


during 2012 season, career achievements began gain widespread recognition. milne 5th non key position forward kick more 500 goals in history of afl/vfl football. player shorter 180 cm kick more 500 goals since kevin bartlett in 1980s. described during 2012 1 of best small forwards ever play afl football.


milne finished 2012 season 56 goals 22 games, , selected in 2012 all-australian team, earning recognition second time in career.
