louisiana state university (lsu) , alabama first met on field in 1895 , continuously since 1964. however, annual game against tigers not considered rivalry until saban (a former lsu head coach) hired in same capacity @ alabama 2007 season. through 2016 season, saban has compiled overall record of 8 wins , 3 losses (8–3) against tigers. after 41–34 loss in first matchup, alabama won @ baton rouge in overtime 27–21 in 2008. after tigers upset crimson tide 24–21 in 2010, again victorious following season 9–6 in no. 1 versus no. 2 game of century during regular season. met again in rematch 2011 national championship in bcs national championship game alabama won 21–0 in rematch national championship. crimson tide won second straight in series in 2012 after defeated lsu 21–17 when aj mccarron threw 28-yard, game-winning touchdown pass t. j. yeldon in final 2 minutes of game. in 2013, alabama turned 17-17 tie in third quarter 38-17 rout behind 372-yard rushing effort, including 133 yards , 2 touchdowns t. j. yeldon. @ baton rouge in 2014, blake sims drove alabama 55 yards in final 50 seconds of regulation tying field goal, , threw 6-yard touchdown deandrew white in overtime lead tide 20-13 win on tigers. in 2015, alabama won handily against undefeated lsu team, 30-16 in tuscaloosa. bama had 250 rushing yards , shawn robinson blocked 1 of lsu s points in spectacular fashion. in 2016, game scoreless going fourth quarter. however, true freshman quarterback jalen hurts ran 21 yards touchdown. put alabama 7-0, , tide never looked shut out lsu 10-0 in baton rouge.
