alameda council







alameda council 1 of 7 smallest boy scout councils in united states, serving youth in city of alameda. first organized in december 1916, shortly after organization of bsa councils in berkeley , oakland, making third oldest bsa council in northern california. 1 of 6 bsa councils serve san francisco bay area.



california inland empire council







the california inland empire council (ciec) formed in 1973 through merger of arrowhead area (#048) , riverside area councils (#045). in 1974 grayback council (#024) merged new council. in 2006, council acquired san bernardino county portions of old baldy council (#043). council territory includes of riverside , san bernardino counties.

crater lake council serves scouts in oregon , california.


golden empire council







the golden empire council (#047), first chartered in 1920, serves scouts in large section of northern california, sacramento valley , northern sierra nevada mountains. council headquarters located in sacramento. council covers 16 counties in northern california: amador, butte, colusa, el dorado, glenn, nevada, placer, sacramento, solano, shasta, sierra, sutter, tehama, trinity, yolo, , yuba counties.



greater los angeles area council

greater los angeles area council (glaac) new boy scouts of america council made merger of los angeles area council , san gabriel valley council. vote merge held on march 21, 2015. new name council, greater los angeles area council, announced on june 11, 2015. new council continue scouting service centers in los angeles , pasadena. glaac has 3 scout shops in los angeles, san pedro , pasadena. glaac operates 8 bsa camps in greater los angeles area. due large size of 2 original councils, merger process completed on time span.


greater yosemite council







the greater yosemite council (#059) founded in 1920 modesto council. in 1921 modesto changed name stanislaus county council, , in 1922 yosemite area council. in 1998, council changed name greater yosemite council. in 1997, forty niner council (#052) merged gyc.



las vegas area council

formerly boulder dam area council, las vegas area council serves scouts in nevada, california , arizona.


long beach area council







the long beach area council (lbac), headquartered in long beach , founded in 1919, 1 of 5 boy scouts of america councils in los angeles county, california.

the los padres council founded in 1917 santa barbara council. santa barbara council changed name in 1929 mission council , stayed way until 1994. in 1994, santa lucia area council merged mission council form los padres council. santa lucia area council (#056) founded in 1933, san luis obispo county council. central coast counties council (#025), founded in 1922 merged santa barbara in 1924.

mount diablo silverado council serves chartered organizations , bsa units in contra costa county, lake county, napa county, solano county (except cities of dixon, rio vista, , vacaville), , cities of albany , berkeley in northern alameda county.


the mount diablo silverado council (#023) formed in 1992 result of merger between former silverado area council (#038) , former mount diablo council (#023). mount diablo silverado council can trace history berkeley council organized in march 1916.



nevada area council

nevada area council serves approximately 14,000 youth through chartered organizations , bsa units in northern nevada , northeastern california. parts of california served nac alpine county, lassen county, plumas county, northern portion of mono county, , eastern portions of el dorado county, placer county, , sierra county.


orange county council







founded in 1920 orange county council, council formed merger of north orange council (#037) , orange empire council (#039) in 1972. north orange council founded in 1944 northern orange county , changed name north orange in 1965.


orange county council 1 of 20 largest councils traditional membership in nation. in 2008 had on 40,000 youth members.



pacific skyline council







one of 6 councils serves san francisco bay area, pacific skyline council founded in 1940 stanford area council (#031). in 1994, stanford area council merged san mateo county council (#020) form current council.



piedmont council







the piedmont council (california) of bsa serves chartered organizations , bsa units located in city of piedmont, located in east bay hills , surrounded city of oakland. council first chartered in 1921, , measurements smallest in bsa, has high level of activity , serves high percentage of available youth living in piedmont. piedmont council 1 of 6 councils serves san francisco bay area.



redwood empire council







redwood empire council local council of boy scouts of america serves youth in mendocino , sonoma counties in california.


the petaluma council founded in 1921, , became sonoma-mendocino council (#041) when scouting districts of northern sonoma county , mendocino county separated silverado area council in 1942. in 1992, sonoma-mendocino council merged redwood area council (#044), form redwood empire council. redwood area council founded in 1923.



san diego-imperial council







the san diego-imperial council headquartered in san diego, california, , serves youth members , volunteer leaders through scout units in san diego , imperial counties of southern california, portion of arizona. founded in 1916 coronado council, , san diego council, in 1917 2 council merged make san diego county council (#049). founded in 1922, imperial county council (#029) changed name imperial-yuma area council in 1929, , changed name again in 1959 desert trails council. in 1993 desert trails , san diego county merged become desert pacific council. desert pacific council renamed san diego-imperial council on january 3, 2005.

the sfbac (#028) formed merger of san francisco area , oakland area councils in february 1964. located in san francisco bay area, serving cities of colma, daly city (northern section), san francisco, emeryville, oakland, san leandro, hayward, fremont, union city, newark, pleasanton, dublin, , livermore, unincorporated communities such castro valley, san lorenzo, , sunol. in june 1916, oakland-piedmont council (#021) chartered, changing name in 1921 oakland area council after piedmont elected organize own council. in january 1917, san francisco council (#051) chartered, changing name in 1924 san francisco area council.



silicon valley monterey bay council







silicon valley monterey bay council (#055), result of council merger between santa clara county council , monterey bay area council, boy scouts of america council headquartered in san jose, california. of 2013, council serves on 23,000 youth in boy scout troops, cub scout packs, venturing crews, , explorer posts.

the sequoia council serves fresno, madera, kings , tulare counties in california. founded in 1919 fresno council, changed name sequoia council in 1925. in 1992, mount whitney area council (#054) merged sequoia.

the southern sierra council serves kern, inyo, , mono counties in california. founded in 1919 bakersfield council, changed name kern county council in 1921, , southern sierra council in 1965.



ventura county council







ventura county council of boy scouts of america officially chartered council 57 on june 23, 1921, after series of meetings followed proposal put forward @ county chamber of commerce meeting on march 28, 1921 in masonic hall. mr. c. h. whipple, of moorpark , later oxnard, became president; , col. j.l. howland became commissioner. harvey r. cheesman, assistant scout executive in los angeles council, became first scout executive, assuming duties on july 11.
