njrotc

in 2007, centennial high school naval junior reserve officers training corps (njrotc) unit rated outstanding in nation navy league.they have been known being 1 of best , youngest units in america.


in 2001 , 2008, centennial high school njrotc unit won 3rd overall in nation @ navy nationals championship in pensacola, florida. 2014-2015 school year centennial high school njrotc won 3rd overall , 1st in nation color guard. 2015-2016 school year @ navy nationals, centennial took home 4th in nation , 3rd in nation color guard. in 2015-2016 school year, centennial high school njrotc awarded overall best unit area 13 commander, captain daniel wenceslao (usn ret.). centennial s njrotc run senior naval science instructor, commander richard pokropski, , 3 naval science instructors: petty officer first class gail johnson, senior chief petty officer thomas borders, , master chief petty officer jim lyle. 3 instructors united states navy, retired, while commander united states coast guard, retired. captain hardeman retired @ end of 2010-2011 school year.


centennial high school njrotc unit has won navy nationals competition twice in history, unusually winning both largest margin (200 points, 2009) , subsequently smallest margin (3 points, 2010). important, school selected capt. jim harvey award winner in 2 different years. award presented school best displays fair play, hard work, sportsmanship , pride in do.

in 2007 under direction of alan zabriskie centennial high school chamber singers honored sing @ 2007 acda national convention in miami, florida. new choral teacher karen miskell. prior zabriskie, nicki bakko toliver choral director developed high quality choral program earning superior , gold ratings regional , national competitions. students performed in district, state , national honor choirs. has completed dma in choral conducting @ north dakota state university , assistant professor of choral music @ wartburg college in waverly, iowa.
