the british graham land expedition under john riddoch rymill based in argentine islands in 1935 , conducted thorough survey of them. expedition built hut on winter island, used northern base; left in place @ end of expedition, destroyed circa 1946. following year, british falkland islands dependencies survey established permanent base on same site, base f (or argentine islands ); main building base, wordie house, protected historic site (hsm-61). base moved galindez island in 1954, renamed faraday in 1977, , transferred ukrainian antarctic program in 1996, continue operate vernadsky research base.
