he married josefa torres , adopted 2 children: carlota joaquina , josé benjamín (his son studied medicine , became doctor in 1827).


vieytes started successful businessman, in soap factory in partnership nicolás rodríguez peña. there began involved in politics , used business meeting place conspirators before may revolution (1810), other prominent citizens, members of patriotic society ( sociedad patriótica ), (belgrano, castelli, moreno, paso , french).


he newspaperman , founded second newspaper published in buenos aires, semanario de agricultura, industria y comercio ( weekly news on agriculture, industry , commerce ).


he played part in reconquest of buenos aires, during british invasions of río de la plata, attained rank of captain. in 1810 supported may revolution , assisted cabildo. named war auditor, later removed when declined take part in execution of santiago de liniers. after death of mariano moreno, replaced him secretary primera junta, until 1811.
