there no railways in macau (nor built during portuguese rule), macau light rail transit system under construction, opening of first phase targeted 2019. similar singapore light rapid transit system, tracks mix of elevated guideways , underground tunnels, ensuring dedicated right-of-way separated road traffic. when completed serve passengers on macau peninsula, taipa island, cotai reclamation area , macau international airport.


proposals have been put forward link macau chinese railway network extending guangzhou railway (or, possibly, guangzhou-zhuhai intercity mass rapid transit) cotai through hengqin island. however, no decisions have yet been made far.
