over past 40 years or so, area has had large amount of investment put it. of money has gone building housing on green belt land. however, there area houses have been built on land used factories.

traditionally, area had been conservative stronghold councillors represent labour party (uk) sadly john roberts passed away in 2017 @ subsequent by- election seat re taken conservatives
facilities
marsh house has several pubs - borough, craven heifer (named eponymous craven heifer), crown , thistle, victoria , greenfield. area has working men s club.
education
the ward served primary school called st peter s church of england. area has no secondary education institutions town of darwen has 2 secondary schools (d.a.c.a , vale). many parents decide though send children, out of town 1 of following-(a) q.e.g.s- independent (b) westholme- independent (c) lords- independent (d) canon slade-bolton state (e) st bede s rc - blackburn state (f) st wilfrid s- blackburn state or (g) turton- bolton state.
