in united states virgin islands, outer bands of hanna dropped locally heavy rainfall on islands, particularly @ cyril e. king airport on saint thomas. additionally, national weather service observed reported 1.7 inches (43 mm) of precipitation on 24-hour period. areas of northeastern puerto rico observed 10–12 inches (250–300 mm) of rain in 24 hours. result, many rivers exceeded banks , several mudslides reported. number of streets inundated , later closed. westin rio mar golf club course in río grande flooded. on western side of island in añasco, residents fled homes shelters.


widespread rain , strong winds reported in bahamas , turks , caicos islands result of hanna. relatively minor damage , no fatalities reported in either area. however, damage assessments limited passage of hurricane ike less week later. winds caused roof damage homes. storm surge flooded providenciales , 5 cays. many roads inundated , suffered damage, including completed causeway linking north , middle caicos islands. there reports of boats in , near caicos islands washed ashore or sunk during storm.
