in 1910 santhagens produced vov. first cape potstill brandy distilled , matured in true cognac tradition. today vov still created in spirit of craftsmanship distillery’s finest 14 year old brandies.

this single barrel, indicated on label, cask no 109 of lot no 28. on average lots in ageing stores consist of 160 barrels per lot. master blender tastes brandy barrels before decanted , blended away different blends of brandy.


whenever comes across exceptionally different brandy put aside tasting panel, make decision on barrel enough rené single cask. brandy’s starts off clear transparent spirit , ageing characters , colour imparted wood. size of barrel determined south african law not larger 300 litres, means after losses there on average 602 bottles available bottling barrel. makes 1 of rarest brandies encountered in south africa.

100% potstill brandy


the solera system @ oude molen 3 tier system consisting of 20 barrels in bottom tier, 18 barrels in middle tier , 16 barrels in top tier. takes 6 years fill complete system, starting off aged brandy, minimum of 3 years, in top tier.


oude molen bottles out of bottom tier. maximum of 20% of volume per barrel bottled every 12 months. after bottling bottom tier, refill bottom tier middle tier , middle tier top tier. means next 100 years consistency of brandy same.


the first bottling solera system has been awarded gold medal best in class @ international wine & spirit competition in london 2010.
