early career (1991–1994)

farmer started wrestling in 1991 lightning in tag team of thunder , lightning in iwf promotion in florida. in october 1991, wrestled match smoky mountain wrestling masked black scorpion. in 1993, farmer wrestled summer tour japan pro wrestling. in 1993, thunder , lightning moved world championship wrestling (wcw) , had small feud harlem heat, whom lost @ superbrawl iv. farmer left wcw in spring of 1994.

independent circuit (1994–1995)

in july 1994, farmer wrestled national wrestling alliance territories in tennessee , carolinas. later join global wrestling federation in dallas, texas near end of july. in february 1995, , fellow former wcw wrestler jim steele wrestled dark match world wrestling federation.

cobra (1995)

farmer returned wcw in july 1995 cobra feud craig pittman. cobra made wcw debut on september 9, 1995 edition of wcw worldwide, defeating bobby starr cobra clutch slam finisher. bobby brain heenan , mean gene okerlund explained cobra s kayfabe story of having served in gulf war. sgt. craig pittman, legit marine sergeant, abandoned cobra in desert, reported him awol @ camp. cobra lost rank , respect, learned wrestle, , came wcw seeking revenge on pittman. feud short-lived, pittman defeating cobra submission in short match, although in rematch following week, cobra won. go , forth , trade victories few months before feud ended.

nwo sting (1996–1999)

the nwo had been battling sting , 1 of wcw’s loyal supporters, since inception in july 1996. part of elaborate plan, farmer made debut “sting” on september 9, 1996 edition of monday nitro when attacked lex luger appearing nwo limousine after tape recording of sting speaking had been played. led luger, longtime ally, friend , tag team partner, publicly question sting’s loyalty. @ fall brawl, team wcw being interviewed, sting came in , told teammates had nothing attack. luger told sting rather bluntly did not believe him. later during war games match, last man out team nwo “sting”, convinced (including broadcast team) real sting part of nwo. however, real sting showed last man team wcw. after assaulting team nwo, sting walked on luger, shoved him, , said, enough ya? , left ring. showed nwo sting imposter. imposter sting picked victory in match team nwo when forced luger submit scorpion death lock.

after war games match, real sting began evolve darker character farmer’s imposter sting character serving catalyst started transformation of character “surfer” sting darker, crow-like sting. farmer referred nwo sting, became more of comedy act in wcw. farmer comically mimic sting’s classic mannerisms, while dressed dark sting. copy loyalty tests , began carrying baseball bat real sting did. on occasion, nwo sting try appease real sting when both in ring. unfortunately farmer, led real sting attacking him , getting laid out scorpion death drop. in matches, nwo sting lose opponents, or need entire nwo win match. television announcers refer him imposter, fake, or bogus sting. announcer larry zbyszko nicknamed him “stink”. rest of nwo ignore him whenever real sting around when trying recruit him. after revealed sting had sided wcw, eric bischoff promised interview sting. instead brought out nwo sting , held mock interview berated real sting , praised hollywood hogan.

farmer appeared in video game wcw vs. nwo: world tour nwo sting, labeled in game sting .

in march 1997, farmer joined nwo japan in new japan pro wrestling , began split time between japan , america. while in japan, nwo sting began rise in popularity , became prominent member of group. regularly teamed nwo japan leader masahiro chono. nwo sting became more popular real sting in japan. result, farmer spend more time in japan. in november 1997, teamed hiroyoshi tenzan compete in 1997 super grade tag league. team score 3 victories during league.

nwo sting’s last appearances in wcw came in may 1998, when joined nwo hollywood , began teaming giant. giant had won wcw world tag team championship real sting, team imploded when giant joined nwo hollywood, , began feuding on control of tag team titles held together. on may 25, 1998 edition of monday nitro, team of nwo sting & giant lost lex luger , sting, after match saw real sting join nwo part of wolfpac faction. after farmer left, nwo began using sting masks , having other nwo members appear fake stings. made 1 final appearance fake sting on july 5th 1999 edition of monday nitro when interfered in match between kevin nash , sid vicious.

nwo sting returned japan, had run fan favorite. chono, leader of nwo japan suffered neck injury led keiji mutoh taking charge , changing groups philosophy. fan favorite, nwo sting teamed brian adams challenge iwgp tag team championship, , teamed tenzan again compete in 1998 super grade tag league. in may 1999, chono returned injury , began feuding mutoh on direction of nwo japan. during feud, nwo sting left group , sided chono.

in 2014, wwe released retrospective dvd collection titled best of sting . picture of farmer nwo sting featured on cover of set. later revealed picture of nwo sting mistake on wwe s part.

team 2000 & new japan army (1999–2002)

after leaving nwo japan, farmer changed ring name super j, , along chono, , michael wallstreet formed team 2000 feud nwo japan. 2 factions fight next 7 months before feud culminated @ wrestling world 2000 event. @ event, team 2000 defeated nwo japan in best of 4 series, forcing nwo japan disband , become part of team 2000.

super j received njpw audience, , prominent member of team 2000, teaming chono through 2001. team made couple of appearances in wcw before closure in 2001. super j teamed scott norton compete in 2001 g1 tag league, scoring 7 victories. super j left team 2000 in march 2002, , joined rival group, new japan army. 2 groups feuded until september 2002 when team 2000 absorbed new japan army well.

return independent circuit (2001–2005)

in 2004, farmer went nwo sting gimmick on independent circuit in carolinas until started wrestling exclusively ultimate championship wrestling on january 8, 2005 when won title. retired later year.
