girl scouting started in hawaii in 1917 2 troops in oahu. troop 1 @ kamehameha school girls completed paperwork first, troop 2 in kaka‘ako asked sponsorship of lili uokalani, last monarch of hawaii, , promised own flag given after death. oahu council established in 1918 , chartered in 1919. other islands followed until kauai had first troop in 1936. in 1963 girl scout council of oahu expanded include of hawaii wake , midway , renamed girl scout council of pacific. wake , midway later dropped , in 1990 council renamed girl scout council of hawaii.
