library

the library founded on ideals of nineteenth century brahmo educational movement focus on providing quality education women pioneered pandit sivanath sastri. today though hard-pressed space , lacks desired manpower, sivanath sastri college library continues mission community grow.


the collection

the library has collection of more 39,000 volumes include small collection of conventional reference books. library functions consortia of 5 separate units: central library, honours seminar library, staff-room library, departmental library of geography , departmental library of botany. while accredited users may access central library, access honours seminar library restricted honours students , teachers. staffroom library class room reference, while departmental libraries use teachers , students of respective departments. apart books acquired under college grant , ugc grant there small collection of books donated users , wishers named prafulla chandra roy text book library .


facilities provided

the central library provides large reading room capable of accommodating more 70 readers @ time. other facilities include ugc book bank needy students, access internet provided users @ central library. readers have access ugc inflibnet s n-list e-resource consortia full text journals , e-books.


computerization of library

computerized automation of library started in 2004 using winisis software. responding changes in technology, library today uses open source library management software koha meet automation needs. online public access catalog (opac) available , can accessed @ http://ssclib-opac.l2c2.co.in/
