robert r. reisz , others described skull in detail in 1992, based on complete skull specimen (mcz 1124) 27 cm (11 in) long, preserved left mandible. in addition long, low skull , uniform size of teeth contrast dimetrodon, anterior teeth of upper jaw slanted , of lower jaw directed forward grasping prey. rather crocodile-like skull suggests secodontosaurus have been semi-aquatic , may have fed on fish , small swimming amphibians. however, reisz , coauthors noted tall sail seem hindrance in pursuit of quick-moving creatures underwater. instead, long, narrow snout forward slanting teeth @ mandible tip might have allowed secodontosaurus probe after small animals hiding in burrows , other tight spaces.
