like other post-socialist regimes in eastern europe, bulgaria found transition capitalism rather painful , not easy expected. anti-communist union of democratic forces (in bulgarian: СДС, sds) took office between 1991 , 1992 carry through privatization of agricultural land, properties , industry issuing shares in government enterprises citizens, these accompanied massive unemployment industries no longer tightened broken comecon , failed in competition of global market without participation of bulgaria new regional or world trade organizations, @ same time bulgaria s industry showed backward amendable in hurry of political changes neither government, nor people ready industrial modernization. in fact disbandment of former state security tightened communist party (bulgarian: ДС, ds) although brought relief many bulgarian people feared speak or express other communist views, @ same time boosted criminality never seen before in bulgaria. police not ready care , chase criminality before kept low fearful methods of ds. led mass stealing of capital, machinery, materials , furniture industry , institutions. referring industry led failing work of many factories, etcetera
