anatomic boundaries

the boundaries of each submasseteric space are:

the anterior margin of masseter muscle anteriorly,
the parotid gland posteriorly,
the zygomatic arch superiorly,
the inferior border of mandible inferiorly,
the lateral surface of mandibular ramus medially (the submasseteric space superficial mandible),
the masseter muscle laterally (the submasseteric space deep masseter).

communications

the communications of each submasseteric space are:

to buccal space anteriorly,
to pterygomandibular space (around posterior margin of mandibular ramus medial surface) , parotid space posteriorly,
to superficial temporal space superiorly.

contents

in health, space contains:

the masseteric artery , vein.
