early history

the first historical references bröllin can traced 1233, when went under name of bralin after signatories @ time. same family registered owners in land register in 1375, under name brellyn. land covered 50 hooves , corresponds current area of bröllin. between 1375 , 1738 estate belonged von lindstedt family, took residence there 1400. after young b.h. von lindstedt deserted army, frederick william of prussia gave estate von görne, sold onwards prüwer family.


the prüwers expanded agricultural activities of bröllin, , built nearby village friedrichshof, settled workers , sheep farmers paid taxes bröllin. remained under bröllin until 1931, when bought through communal land settlement society.


in 1854, land bought stoewahs family. period of booming agriculture in germany, , latest technological developments used develop , restructure estate , buildings. during time, amongst modern agricultural estates in entire region. of farm buildings, distillery, stem period.

after second world war, land reforms restructured german countryside, , former properities distributed different groups , individuals farming purposes schloss bröllin estate run various production cooperatives (lpgs), 2500 animals , 300 employees. after upheavals in 1990, lpgs out-phased, , estate became responsibility of treuhandsanstalt.


today

in 1992, newly founded non-profit schloss bröllin association rented estate treuhand , began renovation work transform place production centre performing arts. aims participate in regional , international networks, carry out youth work , workshops, , place artistic production , research. since 1993, estate has been protected heritage site, bought schloss bröllin association in 2000. association works maintain buildings , surrounding lands.


today, estate goes name of schloss bröllin: international art research location. owned , maintained schloss bröllin association, , run combination of employees , volunteers. many of volunteers come through european voluntary service programme , regional initiatives. association supported german federal cultural foundation ministry of education, science , culture of mecklenburg-vorpommern, district vorpommern-greifswald, lag soziokulturl mv e.v., foundation german-polish cooperation , centre political education , collaborates number of regional networks , initiatives.


during summer months, bröllin hosts number of artists , groups part of residential programme. workshops, artistic projects, youth groups, conferences , other events regularly hosted, , more 500 works of dance, theatre , performance have been produced or partly in schloss bröllin.
