born in dublin, ireland, judge began career @ st. joseph s national school in dún laoghaire, appearing school s senior boys team. in 2006, judge joined academy @ premier league club blackburn rovers. turned professional @ age 17 , regular in reserve team during 2007–08 season, scoring 7 goals. made debut senior team substitute in 4–1 league cup second round win on grimsby town in august 2008 , first start followed in narrow fa cup third round victory on blyth spartans in january 2009. shortly afterwards, signed new contract running until end of 2010–11 season. judge spent majority of following 2 years away on loan , departed ewood park in january 2011.
plymouth argyle (loans)
judge joined championship club plymouth argyle on loan on 29 january 2009, remainder of 2008–09 season. featured regularly in starting xi manager paul sturrock s team , scored first senior goal of career against burnley in march. season ended judge having made 17 appearances in competitions.
judge rejoined argyle on loan duration of 2009–10 season. continued feature regularly in first-team , scored first brace in senior football 2 goals in impressive 4–1 win on reading on 28 december. pilgrims relegated championship @ end of season , judge returned blackburn. made 40 appearances , scored 5 goals during second spell. in 2013, plymouth herald named judge argyle s fifth best-ever loan signing.

on 31 august 2010, judge signed six-month loan deal league 1 club notts county. loan expired on 1 january 2011, county re-signed judge on further one-month loan available forthcoming matches whilst permanent deal finalised. made 14 appearances during loan spell , scored no goals. on 14 january 2011, judge completed permanent move notts county, signing two-year deal club. days after signing, judge broke metatarsal bone in right foot in match against hartlepool united. after seven-week spell on sidelines, judge returned action against swindon town. scored equaliser, before setting lee hughes give county 3 points in 2–1 victory. made 21 appearances , scored 1 goal during 2010–11 season.
judge scored first goal of 2011–12 season in 3–1 away win against chesterfield. form saw him pick consecutive player of month awards november , december respectively. flourished under manager martin allen , finished season 8 goals , 13 assists. judge scooped both notts county players player of year , supporters player of year awards 2011–12 season.
judge scored first goal in 2012–13 season in 2–0 win on bury on 1 september 2012. in february 2013 , playing under sixth different manager since arriving @ meadow lane, judge revealed sick of high turnover of managers , captain neal bishop backed judge s comments. despite unrest, judge s performances throughout 2012–13 season saw him named in league 1 pfa team of year. finished season 43 appearances , 8 goals. on 27 april 2013, announced judge depart meadow lane.

judge re-signed blackburn rovers, in championship, on three-year deal on 1 july 2013. scored first blackburn goal in 3–3 league cup first round shootout defeat carlisle united on 7 august 2013. made 12 appearances during 2013–14 season, scoring 1 goal. despite manager gary bowyer insisting judge in plans, judge departed ewood park second time on 2 june 2014, after making 14 appearances , scoring 1 goal during 4 years club first team player.

on 8 january 2014, judge joined league 1 side brentford on loan remainder of 2013–14 season. featured regular starter , scored first bees goal on fourth appearance, netting second in 3–1 win on bristol city on 28 january. on 18 april, judge scored penalty saw brentford beat preston north end 1–0 @ griffin park, confirm bees promotion championship 3 games spare. scored seventh goal of campaign in 2–0 win on stevenage on final day. made 22 appearances during spell bees , on 2 june 2014, judge signed brentford permanently on three-year contract undisclosed fee.

judge began 2014–15 championship season in defensive midfield role alongside jonathan douglas, alex pritchard having assumed attacking role on left side of midfield. scored first goal of season on twentieth appearance, sliding home opener in 4–0 demolition of wolverhampton wanderers @ griffin park on 29 november. judge missed first league game of season on 10 january 2015, having been forced off knee injury during previous week s 2–0 fa cup third round defeat brighton & hove albion. after on 4 months without goal, judge scored free kick send bees on way 4–1 victory on west london rivals fulham @ craven cottage on 3 april. successful season ended in defeat middlesbrough in playoff semi-finals, judge having made 41 appearances , scored 3 goals.

judge scored first goal of 2015–16 season on 15 august 2015, when cancelled out jonathan kodjia s opener send brentford on way 4–2 comeback victory on bristol city , retrospectively credited second goal in same match. 3 goals , 4 assists during four-match winning run in october won judge championship player of month award. 6 goals through january 2016 led nomination football league player of year award @ 2016 london football awards. judge s season came premature end on 9 april 2016, when suffered double lower-leg fracture after being felled sickening challenge ipswich town s luke hyam. scored seasonal-best 14 goals during 2015–16 season , provided 11 assists. @ 2016 football league awards, judge shortlisted championship player of year award , named in football league team of year. named in championship pfa team of year @ pfa awards , won brentford supporters , players player of year awards. judge signed new two-year contract on 29 march 2017, underwent further surgery improve healing of bone in april 2017. judge returned non-contact training in november 2017.
