nanne has been color commentator minnesota state high school boys hockey tournament since 1964, total of 51 years. son, marty nanne (born october 16, 1967), selected chicago blackhawks in eighth round of 1986 nhl entry draft. nanne has 3 grandsons playing junior ice hockey or high school hockey. one, named lou, played edina high school before passing senior season play penticton vees. had signed play hockey university of minnesota, decommitted , instead attended rensselaer polytechnic institute. drafted minnesota wild in 2012, never played professionally. tyler nanne, drafted new york rangers in 2014 nhl entry draft, member of edina high school team won consecutive minnesota state high school hockey tournaments in 2013 , 2014, , plays hockey @ university of minnesota. nanne s granddaughter, erin, works minnesota wild. cousin vinny lettieri, father tino, goalie 1986 canadian world cup soccer team, played minnetonka high school before joining lincoln stars , member of university of minnesota men s ice hockey team. nanne opened lou nanne s steakhouse in edina, mn in march 2016.it has since been renamed tavern23 tribute nannes jersey number.
